About kelly

Kelly Monrow is a singer-songwriter and actress from Austin, Texas. She started her onscreen career modeling and acting in commercials. Appearing in different independent films while receiving her undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Austin, Kelly decided to take a leap of faith and move to LA and later to NYC.  Kelly Dowdle rose to prominence through her acting roles in hit shows like Billions, Lucifer, and American Crime Story

During the Covid lockdowns, Dowdle decided to pursue her long-lost passion of becoming a singer, so she created the moniker Kelly Monrow and started writing lyrics. During the pandemic, the Americana artist decided that it was time to be her authentic self and live the life she’s always dreamed of. As a true performer and a genuine songwriter, Kelly is keen on sharing her perspective by telling passionate, sometimes personal stories that both inspire others and help her heal as a person. As a creative, Kelly thinks it's important to keep a fire burning at all times whether it's film, singing, songwriting, and/or photography. Picking one lane as an artist is not Kelly’s philosophy.

Monrow started getting her musical juices flowing by teaming up with an old friend and producer Dean Sams of Lonestar to create a three-track EP called Pronoia, including hits like “Wide Open”, “Either Way”, and “Not If You Stay”. Kelly then worked with Nashville producer Sinclair co-writing and creating her first single “Mama Said”, which she released in October 2021. The two have spent a year working on a new sound in her debut full-length album, Scars of Venus that was released on October 10, 2022.

The 12-track record  is a flawless fusion of Americana and 90’s alternative Pop-Rock sounds that take you on a journey of personal emancipation from one's own introspective chains; this new 90’s sound is best displayed in the songs “Down Your Spine” and “Pain Turns to Love”. With songs like “Go For Gold”, Scars of Venus is a collection of hard-learned lessons and empowering declarations from her attaining a new life of freedom.

From the fist-pumping, powerhouse track “The Woman”, to the dark pop reflective song “Wounds”, Kelly Monrow bares her soul and claims her throne in this latest LP.  While “Go For Gold” is an exciting percussive inspirational anthem with a healthy dose of EDM, Radio-ready pop tracks like “Ain’t Mine”, “Jagged Heart”, and “Wake Up” mix novelty and wholesome familiarity.

Influenced by legends like Shania Twain, Dolly Parton, Pink, and Bonnie Raitt, Kelly Monrow feels a sense of responsibility to motivate women to pursue their goals and dreams. Kelly wants to encourage everyone to defy societal standards and challenge their comfort zones. Months within launching her career, the determined musician has already amassed more than 2.5 million streams and made her performance debut at South By Southwest in Austin.
